Full schedule of author visits planned for September

Thanks to the Al Purdy writer-in-residence program, the library had the opportunity to host Ken McGoogan at the Picton Branch Library for a talk about his book, Searching for Franklin. His daughter, Keriann McGoogan, joined us late in August to discuss her books, Sisters of the Jungle and Chasing Lemurs.

Author events are a great way to meet writers and hear about their processes, future projects, and more – and they’re always entertaining.

We have a full schedule of author visits planned for the Picton Branch throughout September with something sure to appeal to everyone. A three-person book launch will feature Jennifer LoveGrove, Gary Barwin and Alison Gadsby on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 pm.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. hear from Zoe Whittall in conversation with Leigh Nash. They’ll be discussing Whittall’s latest book, Chasing Summer, written as Frankie Scott. Set in Prince Edward County, local readers will be sure to take note of the many local references.

On Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 pm, Jess Gibson will discuss her new book, The Good Eye with Damian Rogers. This work is a debut collection of globe-spanning stories set in the worlds of art, crime, and fantasy, by an exceptionally elegant and mischievous storyteller.
