The Great Buck Derby begins Monday.
Presented by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 509, Consecon, the controlled shotgun hunt runs from Monday, Nov. 29 to Saturday, Dec. 4.
Prizes include $250 for the largest buck, $150 for the largest doe and three hidden weights daily ($25 each). There are also daily cash draws but winners must be present to win.
A special barbecue and raffle draw is set for Tuesday, Nov. 30. There is a Junior Hunter and Coyote Prize (for those 18 years old and under) and $50 for the largest deer. The daily largest coyote prize is $25 and the weekly largest is $50.
Shutgun weigh-ins are at the Consecon Legion Monday to Friday from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 4-6 p.m. The new daytime weigh in is from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Note: Sunday, Dec. 5 not included in derby prizes.
Full official rules are on the ticket – $12 – available at the Consecon Legion, County Farm Centre, Steve’s Sports, County Way and Dixie Lee.
