Hand clapping good time at Hillier Park Day

Nothing but smiles filled Jack Taylor Park on Saturday during Hillier Park Day. The weather was perfect, the food was great and the fun never-ending.

The visitors enjoyed the musical talents of Tatyana Sylla and The Tweed Twangers. There was a variety of carnival games for the little ones, plus contests like watermelon seed spitting, obstacle course races and hoola hooping to name just a few. Len Smith, conductor of the “Hillier Express”, took folks on wagon rides around the park and treated the crowd with his fiddle, playing with the Tweed Twangers for a couple of songs. The Wellington Dukes were great sports by volunteering to be victims of the “Dunk Tank”. The Hillier Firefighters’ Association did an amazing job with the BBQ, education and firetruck display and the water curtain. Kim Parker was on hand to read from her book “We Need A Puppy” and Christie’s Little Portable Petting Zoo brought a number of furry and feathered friends to meet the crowd. The Hillier Recreation Committee held a silent auction featuring items from a 10-man tent to bottles of local wine.

The festivities and fun were enjoy by the young and the young at heart!

This event was sponsored by the Hillier Recreation Committee and the Hillier Firefighters’ Association.
