The votes are in and the praise is high for teenagers who entered this year’s Liam Garrett Memorial Teen Art Show at the Picton Branch of the library.
Guest judge Marc Keelan-Bishop had high praise for all of the entries, and left his remarks near each photo as he was unable to attend the awards ceremony.
Whitney Shantz, the library’s youth co-ordinator, handed out this year’s prizes, thanking Colleen Green, who provided the prizes in honour of her late son Liam, who was passionate about art.
Caitlin Lindensmith-Maddox, winner of the Peoples’ Choice Award, is shown here with Whitney Shantz, the library’s youth co-ordinator. Her crayon painting was titled “Rainbow Dancer”.
Judge’s comments – Great idea. So full of joy.
First prize winner was Dinosaur, a lino print by Abbie Henderson.
Judge’s comment: Really fun idea, great patterns, su[er clean printing. Bravo.
Second prize, The Red Umbrella, by Ruth Laliberte.
Judge’s comment: Lovely, delicate paintwork. I love the nuance of your ink work here.
Third prize, Remembrance Day, by Rory Facette-Grondin.
Due to technical error, this photo is not available, however, this photo shows some of Rory’s artwork on cards he sells at Books & Company and County Treasures.
