The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Craft Group has stitched up another significant contribution to the Keep Kids Warm program.
The Craft Group presented the PEC OPP with 215 sets of hats and mittens. These hand knitted items will be presented along with new boots and outerwear to children of local families who need a little help keeping warm this winter. The Craft Group has been making donations to the program for more than a decade.
The PEC OPP and neighbouring police detachments support working families and those in need of assistance to purchase new winter clothing for children. Registration for the program took place in September. Parents who registered can pick up their child’s warm new outerwear on Monday, Nov, 4th to Thursday Nov. 7th at the PEC OPP detachment, 569 County Road #1, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
This year, the program expects to assist about 1,500 area children – from newborn to 12 years of age. The partners include Quinte Broadcasting, Belleville Police Service, the Township of Stirling Rawdon, Marmora and Lake, Centre Hastings OPP and Prince Edward OPP.
Families are registered from Prince Edward County, Belleville, from the north to Madoc and Marmora and to the east in Deseronto.
