Hospital Auxiliary volunteers log more than 21,000 hours

Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary members were honoured Wednesday for putting in more than 21,303 volunteer hours and for raising more than $173,000 in support of the hospital at Picton.
“We’re here today to honour the thankless and selfless efforts of our volunteers,” said Ann White, outgoing director of membership and volunteer services. “The story of the year is the auxiliary’s Second Time Around Shop moving to the best location in Picton (beside Tim Hortons),” she said. “Sales are up 49 per cent and it’s due to the extraordinary volunteers who do whatever it takes to run this significantly large second hand store.

35-year pin: Evelyn Drew
30-year pin: Joan Mercer
20-year pin: Evelyn Beaumont, Barb Claxton, Rebecca MacKellar, Brenda Minaker, Norene Pulver, Wanda Strachan, Anna Tait, Nancy Watson.
