The 2021 Smile Cookie campaign was sweeter than ever this year as customers supporting Tim Hortons’ annual fundraiser helped gain $10,272 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF).

Topping the 2020 result by $3,000, this is the best Smile Cookie result that has been raised locally to-date!

“This year’s campaign was a tremendous success again and it wouldn’t have been possible without the loyal support of our customers and the dedicated staff who worked hard to create those 10,365 smiles for our local hospital,” said Paul Massey, owner of the Picton and Wellington Tim Hortons.

The campaign ran for one week from Sept. 13 to 19. Both the Picton and Wellington restaurants designated the proceeds of their $1 chocolate chunk cookie sales to the PECMH Foundation for the eighth consecutive year.

Tim Hortons has supported the purchase of medical equipment needed at the County’s hospital for nearly 20 years. This year’s Smile Cookie campaign pushes Tim Hortons’ cumulative giving to $53,350.

“The relationship with have with the Massey family is quite special,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “This is nothing short of remarkable. Tim Hortons’ investment in local healthcare, is an investment in our community’s quality of life.”

The foundation’s job is to raise funds needed to ensure care providers and the hospital are properly equipped.

“Donor dollars go a long way toward improving care for residents in our community who need treatment, close to home,” said Barbara McConnell, chairperson of the PECMH Foundation. “Thank you to Paul, Valerie and to all of our amazing donors for their positive support of our hospital. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in the care you and your family receives. We are blessed to live in this generous community, which ensures we have a vibrant hospital armed with the best medical equipment possible.”
