Jazz, Wine and Art Event raises more than $5,000 for south shore conservation efforts

Thanks to the generosity of donors, supporters, sponsors and 200 participants, the South Shore Joint Initiative raised more than $5,000 for conservation efforts during last week’s Jazz, Wine and Art event.

“We are absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing time we had and the incredible support we received,” said Cheryl Anderson, of the SSJI.

Donations, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw were the drivers of the funds while participants enjoyed music, art, local wine and food, all in support of the County’s south shore conservation.

Attendees were treated to the smooth jazz sounds of the renowned Brian Legere & Michael Monis Quartet during the event at Exultet Estates.

“Our deepest appreciation goes to Dick Bird, who handcrafted the birdhouses and provided the perfect “canvas” for our creative artists and craftspeople in the County and beyond, who consistently support our work with enthusiasm,” said Anderson.

Through the silent auction of painted and decorated nestings bird boxes, participants contributed to the funding of advocacy and educational work for the rare, fragile, and beloved south shore of Prince Edward County. Click here to see the gallery of the bird boxes. 

“Together, we can continue to protect and preserve Prince Edward County’s South Shore. Thank you, once again, for your unwavering support and for making our event a memorable event,” added Anderson.

Events coming up include the South Shore Clean-up Saturday, Sept. 7, the Dark Sky Event Sept. 27-28 and Prince Edward Point National Wildlife Area Wild Thing monthly hikes being held from September to March. Click here to visit the SSJI events page
