Kids reel in fish and fun

The big ones were just as important as the small ones and the strange ones at the annual Children’s Fishing Derby hosted by the Bloomfield Hallowell Recreation Committee on the weekend.
Benjamin Martin caught the longest fish – a 29″ Pike, while Dolan and Mack McFarland tied for having the smallest fish on the end of their poles. Emery Demille lured in two fish to net the Most Fish Caught category.
The strangest catches of the day went to Evan Michaud, who reeled in a hockey stick blade, and Brody Howe, who was surprised to net a snapping turtle.
