Lip Dub 2 – still proud to be PECI Panthers

Panther Pride was turned up to maximum Tuesday as Prince Edward Collegiate Institute filmed its second “Lip Dub”.
A lip dub combines lip synching and audio dubbing to make a music video. The exercise included the school’s students, staff, parents, alumni and community partners presenting the excitement and energy of students and programs.
The first video was produced and filmed in 2012 by Cassidy Allison, who went on to post-secondary film studies. This year student John Conroy is behind the lens under the direction of teacher Rob Garden.
Filmed throughout the building and on the grounds, the video showcases participants in all areas – including science, technology, music, drama, clubs and sports – dancing, singing and performing to the music selections.
“Some might question the use of an entire afternoon but there is no better way to engage in team building, setting direction and generating enthusiasm than to join together and do something like this,” said principal Darren McFarlane.
“It was all organized with student leadership and they’ve done a fantastic job. “The idea is to leave your mark and make it timeless. Timeless excellence and they’ve done it well.”
The video will be some time in production, but following its launch, will be presented here on Countylive and on various social media networks.

As a former Media Literacy teacher at PECI (The program ran from 1976-1997) I wish to congratulate the students and staff on their exceptional Lip Sync project for 2016. Your planning, production values, content and entertainment value are illustrative of the creative capacity you are all gifted with. I was somewhat saddened to see my former media centre and TV production studio turned into a fitness centre though.:-). It must have been fun doing this.
