Missing person located safe and sound

Saturday at approximately 9 p.m., 20-year-old Matthew Simms was found by a search team, in a field in Ameliasburg. He was transported to Belleville Hospital in good condition.
Simms, of Ameliasburg, was last seen Wednesday, September 21 and was reported missing to police.  The OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and the OPP helicopter had  been deployed to search the area.

“The OPP would like to thank everyone for their assistance,” said PEC OPP constable Kim Guthrie.
The public was encouraged to call in any sightings of someone matching Simm’s description, 6′7″ tall, thin build, shaggy brown hair and a scruffy beard.” Police had indicated Simms may appear disoriented or confused and may not respond when spoken to. The public was also asked to continually check outbuildings and to call police about any unusual activity or missing items from their property, for example, clothing from clothes lines, water or food from garages, sheds or residences. Simms was  a student at Queen’s University in Kingston last year and though he was no longer enrolled, he was seen on campus last week. Police also knew he was a licenced driver however, he was not believed to be in possession of vehicle.
