A new all-way stop and pedestrian crossover will be installed at the intersection of Church and Union streets in Picton, to be into effect on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Drivers travelling on Union Street will be required to stop before the intersection with Church Street. The municipality is installing stop signs in both directions on Union Street. See the map below for reference.
A pedestrian crossing will be painted on the roadway to help people safely cross Union Street. An overhead flashing LED beacon will provide drivers with advance warning that a pedestrian crossing is ahead.
To alert drivers about the new stop signs on Union Street, portable digital message signs and “Stop Ahead” signs will be installed in advance of the intersection.
The County is enhancing the intersection based on a study conducted by Jewell Engineering in 2019. An all-way stop and pedestrian crossover was recommended for the intersection based on pedestrian and vehicular counts.
