The Picton Business Improvement Association Red Carpet Event and annual general meeting Wednesday night at The Regent Theatre was  glitzy and glamourous while attending to business.

Picton BIA team: Roni Summers Wickens, Robyn Molyneaux, Norman Markland and Lyndsay Richmond.

Picton BIA Executive Director Roni Summers Wickens, Director of Member Services Lyndsay Richmond and Marketing Co-ordinator Norman Markland explained the successes of the past year and plans for 2012.
“The BIA is committed to working collaboratively with our members and our municipal and community partners,” Summers Wickens said. “We promote Picton as a destination for dynamic economic activity and the location of choice for festivals, community activities and special events; facilitate a business-friendly atmosphere for investment; celebrate Picton’s distinct cultural and historical identity and work together for the mutual benefit of the entire community.”
“Most importantly, our membership continued to create unique shopping, dining and service experience for tens, indeed, hundreds of thousands of people who visit our downtown each year and the residents who rely on our membership to meet their every day needs and those of their families,” said Robyn Molyneaux, chairperson of the board of management.
Strategic planning for 2012 will focus on organizational development, data collection to identify trends, opportunities and obstacles working with the economic development office, heritage preservation and cultural tourism, harbour development, streetscape and beautification enhancements.
