Four active COVID-19 cases in Hastings Prince Edward

UPDATE SEPT 30: Case number 54 has been confirmed as local spread. The HPE Public Health has listed two more confirmed cases on Sept. 29 – numbers 55 and 56 – in Belleville and Quinte West, with transmission causes pending. There are now four active cases in the region.
SEPT. 29 – The Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has confirmed its 54th lab-confirmed COVID-19 case, again in Belleville. Cause of transmission is pending. The other active case reported Sept. 24 in Belleville has been determined to have been caused by close contact.
Meanwhile, Loblaw Companies Limited is reporting three presumptive positive COVID-19 tests in employees at Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Belleville. The company website notes a staffer at the Dundas Street East store tested positive Sept. 24 and hasn’t worked since Sept. 20. One employee at the North Front Street and one at the Sidney Street store also tested positive Sept. 26. They last worked Sept. 22 and Sept. 23 respectively.
One confirmed case has also been reported by the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, on Sept. 29 at a Napanee elementary school.
