Patience, responsibility tools for success in Year of Horse

Year-of-Horse-2014

Canada Post marks the Year of the Horse with domestic and international stamps emphasizing red and gold – traditional Chinese colours that evoke liveliness. The Chinese Lunar New Year begins Friday.

Friday marks the beginning of the Year of the Horse, said to be an expansive and exuberant year that will reward honest opinions and disciplined thinking. Patience and responsibility are your tools for success. Teamwork will bring out the best in everyone. A Horse year is especially lucky for marriages and commitments.

Chinese New Year is a time to welcome longevity, wealth and prosperity and to eliminate any negative chi from the past.
Traditional festivities include setting off firecrackers, spending time with the family, exchanging gifts and, of course, feasting on “lucky foods”. Those who celebrate give their homes a good spring cleaning beforehand because during the New Year festivities period, sweeping is not allowed, because you don’t want to sweep your good luck away.
Serving a whole chicken during the Chinese New Year season symbolizes family togetherness. Noodles represent a long life – superstition says it’s bad luck to cut them. Both clams and spring rolls symbolize wealth. Tangerines and oranges are passed out freely during Chinese New Year. It is customary to serve fish at the end of the evening meal, symbolizing a wish for abundance in the coming year.

The Year of the Wood Horse begins January 31, 2014 and ends February 18, 2015. Those born in “horse years” will be cheerful, popular and make friends. Positive feedback enhances self -confidence.

Animal years calendar

Rat in 2014  •  Ambitious Rat has the power to get places fast. You can accomplish ambitious goals and stand out in the process. Activities in a Horse year must be carefully managed to be most effective. Like driving a high-power car, accidents are possible if you speed and breakdowns can be expensive.

Ox in 2014  •   Ox natives prefer stability and security. With Horse pulling you along, your challenge will to be more flexible and adventurous. Wood energy encourages slow growth that supports your best interests. In a year marked by change and reevaluation, have the courage to surrender what no longer works for you

Tiger in 2014  • Tiger’s natural element is Wood. Wood energy encourages slow growth and collaborative efforts. Team projects will be fun and rewarding. Expansive Horse and powerful Tiger are great friends. Horse years demand action and the courage to move in new directions. You’ll discover innovative methods to solve problems or serve others.

Rabbit in 2014  •  Be patient with setbacks or slowdowns early in the year. After September, challenging events demand collaboration and original solutions. Horse asks sentimental Rabbit to surrender what is broken. Major transformations are possible if you refuse to quit in pursuit of your goals.

Dragon in 2014  •  Unexpected challenges and potential transformations well suited to someone as courageous and original as you. A Wood year encourages Dragons to be more compromising. While you may not really care about other’s points of view, at least you see the value in working cooperatively to further your own agenda.

Snake in 2014  •   Horse energy introduces an element of fun and adventure that helps you feel more hopeful. Big changes are happening all around you. Decisions you make this year could set the course for many years to come.
