PECI Panthers one and one in high school hockey loop

The PECI Panthers boys’ hockey team has a one and one record after their first two games of the high school season.
The Panthers travelled to Trenton Dec. 8 to face a strong and experienced Trenton High team.  The end result was a 5-0 loss which is respectable considering that Trenton posted more than a dozen goals against the Panthers in their only meeting last season.
PECI Assistant Coach Ron Norton commented that the solid play of goalies Josh Arnold and Rick Holland were a big reason for the reduction in goals against.

On Dec. 13th the Panthers made the trip to the Quinte Sports Centre to face the Moira Trojans. The home squad opened the scoring a little more than four minutes after the puck dropped and it wasn’t until 8:58 of the second period that Corey Prince broke in alone and sniped a feed from Keenan Wight and Arnold to tie things up.
Moira scored on the power play just before the flood to take a 2-1 lead into the third frame.  The Panthers came out with more jump in the final period and it paid off at 11:06 when Wight set up Ryan Forrester on a rush and he made no mistake, firing the puck past the Trojans keeper.
Just a minute later the Cats completed the comeback when Prince scored his second of the game to make it 3-2.  Forrester assisted on the winner and then it was up to Arnold to shut the door on Moira shooters to preserve the win.

The Panthers’ next home game is Thursday, Dec. 22nd at 3 pm in Picton versus Centre Hastings SS.
