Peter O’Brien bronze at Junior Nationals

County favourite Peter O’Brien wowed the crowd with his axel and moved up to third place from fourth (142.42 points) during yesterday’s 2011 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals event in Victoria, B.C.
The junior men’s was the second and last event of the night. The triples were flying in practice and the hype was high for the free programs. BC’s Nam Nguyen came back from second place after the short to land seven triples for an impressive score of 169.89 and the title of Canadian Junior Men’s Champion. Shaquille Davis of Central Ontario won the silver medal after a lively free program, he scored 145.55 points. Eastern Ontario’s Peter O’Brien wowed the crowd with his axel to move up from fourth place to come in third with 142.42 points.
Friday will kick start the 2011 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships with the senior pair, ice dance and women’s events.
