Pioneer of web site design settles in Picton

A “virtual” ribbon cutting marked the official opening of InfoLink Web Site Development’s new Picton office at 7 Elizabeth St.
“As we enter our 15th year of business, we’re very excited to be opening our new office in Picton,” said owner Anne VanVlack, who is known as the pioneer of web site development in Prince Edward County.
“When we first started in 1996, the Internet was a new frontier,” she said. “Many businesses were skeptical and they thought it was a fad.  Through the years we’ve seen a lot of changes. Many fads have come and gone and we have survived through the boom and bust of the dot-com era.  Staying on the leading edge with rapid changes in technology is challenging.  I read a report that indicated that one month in this business is the equivalent to a year in regular business. At that rate, if you count like dog’s years, that’s 15 years times 12 months = 180 years in business! No wonder my hair is gray.”
InfoLink Website Development offers full-service website design, e-commerce, web hosting and integrated web, social and internet marketing solutions, domain hosting and self-managed websites.
A more visible office was in response to clients’ feedback and will also allow a venue for workshops, beginning in January.
The InfoLink team includes designer Phil Westlake who has been with the company since 1998; designer Lesley Lavender; marketing and project manager Judy Fraser, VanVlack, who has a teaching background in business and technology; bookkeeper Hilda Vandergaast and office administrator Lynne Ross.
