Poppy fund supports Picton hospital cardiac campaign

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation received $3,000 from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 78 this week. The funds were collected through the 2013 Poppy Fund, which collected more than $18,000 in this community from more than 50 poppy boxes in 2013.
The donation will be directed toward the current campaign to upgrade the telemetry equipment, used for cardiac monitoring at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. Having up-to-date cardiac monitoring equipment will allow the physicians of Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital to manage patients who would otherwise be transferred to another hospital. With this upgrade, physicians and staff can safely monitor a patient’s cardiac condition close to home, with the patient surrounded by familiar caregivers, friends and family.
With this donation, the Royal Canadian Legion moves up into the Patron Level on the donor recognition wall, located at Patient Registration in the hospital as their cumulative giving history now totals $11,450.

We are especially grateful to the Poppy Fund Committee for helping us acquire telemetry equipment for our hospital.”
