With more than 300 fans in attendance the Picton Pirates fell short losing 4-3 to the Napanee Raiders at last Thursday’s home opener.
The game was fast paced and exciting hockey and Picton erased a two-goal deficit to tie the game at three with Napanee regaining the lead a few minutes later with the eventual winner.
Special guests for the night were Wayne and Myrtle Tod who dropped the puck on the 2016/17 PJHL season.
The Tods are long-time volunteers of the Empire league and OHA in various positions and were chosen by the six teams in the division to have the division named after them.
