Single surface road treatment begins

Contractors retained by the County will be applying single surface treatment on various roads beginning Tuesday, July 4.

Single surface treatment is a preventative maintenance tool to help preserve and reinforce existing surface treated roads to extend their life expectancy. Even though roads may appear to be in good shape, the County is trying to get a few more years out of these roads before they fully deteriorate and need to be reconstructed.

Full reconstruction, the municipality notes, costs approximately $35,000 per kilometre for single surface treatment, while full reconstruction of the same kilometre would cost approximately $155,000.

The following roads are scheduled to be completed in this order:
County Road 19 (Cunningham Road to Civic Address [CA] 1450)
Hubbs Road (Valley Road to Victoria Road)
Lakeside Drive (Melville Road to Link Road)
Station Road (from Hillier/County Road 33 to end)
Wesley Acres Road (Millennium Trail to end)
Ridge Road (CA 608 to County Road 12)
Cowan Road (entire length)
Salmon Point Road (County Road 18 to End)
Scotts Mill Road (from Old Milford Road to Crowes Road)
Chapmans Crescent (entire length)
Murphy Road (County Road 10 to County Road 13)
Long Point Road (CA 5036 to Point Traverse Sign past CA 5546)
Miller Road (County Road 17 to Old Milford Road)
Bongards Crossroad (County Road 7 to County Road 8)
Black Road (East of 1052 to Doxsee Road)

Minor traffic disruptions are expected to occur and single lane closures can be expected during application but the operation is mobile within the lane closure so little disruption to property access within the work zone is expected.

Road surface crack sealing begins

JUNE 26: Crack sealing of various road surfaces is scheduled to begin Monday, June 26.

The County has retained a contractor to undertake the work, which may result in minor traffic disruptions and single lane closures can be expected.

Crack sealing is a preventative maintenance technique to prevent the intrusion of water and debris into existing cracks, protecting the road from further deterioration and extending the lifespan of the road.

Work is to take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on the following roads:
Ridge Road (County Road 10 to Civic Address 608)
County Road 4 (Civic Address 643 to Civic Address 1415)
County Road 14 (Highway 62 to County Road 15 / County Road 5)
County Road 15 (County Road 5 to County Road 49)
County Road 33 (Bloomfield Limit – East of Civic Address 14726 – to Slaven Road)
County Road 8 (County Road 17 to County Road 25)
County Road 1 (Civic Address 4258 to Civic Address 5065)
