Wellington Rotary Club members presented $13,495.43 to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF), Tuesday, representing proceeds from their ‘Rockin’ and Rollin’’ fundraising dinner and dance held in the fall.
With this gift, the cllub has raised more than $600,000 for the new hospital, and medical equipment needs for the current hospital.
“The Back the Build campaign cabinet members are excited to receive this gift,” said Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign chairperson. “Rotary’s efforts are helping us build a facility we never imagined possible – a new hospital that offers more space for emergencies, ambulatory, diagnostic and inpatient services to accommodate our growing community.”
“After years of planning and waiting for the project partners to break ground on our new hospital, it is exciting to see the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital begin to take shape,” said Roger Tessier, president of the Rotary Club of Wellington. “Thank you to all who participated in the dance and all the initiatives our club undertakes. Wellington Rotary is grateful to have had so many community members contribute to helping make our new hospital a reality.”
Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation, is also grateful to Wellington Rotarians, and their supporters, for this fundraising dinner and their ongoing philanthropic leadership.
“In recognition of their generous and ongoing support, the waiting area in the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Emergency Department will be named in honour of the Rotary Club of Wellington.”
The club, of about 40 members, is celebrating its 23rd anniversary in 2025.
PECMHF’s Back the Build campaign is raising $30M to help build and equip the new hospital now under construction behind the current hospital. For more information, and to lend support, visit www.pecmhf.ca/back-the-build
