Sales higher though home listings down by 49 per cent

The trend of multiple, higher-end sales continued in May 2017 and though listings are down, sales figures have increased.

The average residential sale price came in at $306,472 up from $263,744 a year ago, reflecting a 16.2 per cent increase.

Cathy Polan, 2017 President of the Quinte and District Real Estate Association of Realtors said the year-to-date average, for residential sales, also shows an increase – of 23.3 per cent – when compared to a year ago.

“Residential sales in units came in with 474 units sold in May 2017, up 6.5 per cent from 445 units sold in May 2016. Available listings continue to be lower than in the past, with active residential listings currently 49.3 per cent less than 2016 and all property types down by 38 per cent from a year ago.”

Monthly dollar sales for all property types is $162,550,679, a 20.4 per cent increase from this time last year. The monthly residential dollar sales also shows an increase of 23.8 per cent with the 2017 figure coming in at $145,267,743 compared to $117,366,157 in 2016.
