Bortolussi, race director and assistant park superintendent, also welcomed Terry Fox Run participants who ran, walked or biked along the 10 km and 5 km routes.

Kevin Beatty, of Frankford was the over all winner of the Fun Run 10km, with a time of 35:34:75. Leanne Carolan was the first female, overall, in the 10km event and the 7th runner in the 10km to cross the finish line. Her time was 43:54.66.

In the 5km event, Jeffrey Brison, of Kingston, was the first finisher with a time of 17:58.44. Mackenzie Campbell, of Kingston, was the first female to cross the line with a time of 22:31.53.

This year the youngest runner was Porter Hymus who ran the 5km in 55:09.72 and the most senior runner was Jerry Vickers, of Belleville, who ran the five km in 35:36.38

The Fun Run started in 1995, as a fundraiser for The Friends of Sandbanks and as a means of attracting tourists back to Prince Edward County in the shoulder season.

“It’s been a great success on both counts,” said Bortolussi. “Over the years, we have raised about $15,000 for The Friends of Sandbanks and about $130,000 for The Terry Fox Run through our participants donating and registering their pledges through this event.”
