The Jolly Old Elf himself brings Christmas cheer to the County this weekend – in Bloomfield, Wellington and at the annual Festival of Trees in West Lake.
Music and merry marchers herald Santa’s arrival Friday night in Bloomfield. Crowds are invited to shop in the village and enjoy chili and hot chocolate at the town hall, before the streets close at 6 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. parade.
Blomfield Main is closed from the intersection of Hwy 33 and Cty Rd 62 through to the Hwy 33, Cty Rd 32 intersection. Portions of Shannon Road, and Stanley Street will also be closed as the parade starts there and moves along Main.
We understand Santa is staying over at Isaiah Tubbs Resort in West Lake as he’s making appearances several times over the weekend at the Festival of Trees magical fundraiser supporting the purchase of necessary medical equipment for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.
There’s entertainment, baked and canned goods and shopping, as well as viewing and bidding on four rooms full of silent auction trees and other donations Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Santa will visit downtown Picton Sunday, Dec. 1 for the parade in his honour running from McFarland Drive to Talbot Street beginning at 1 p.m.
Picton Main will be closed from the intersection at Lake/Talbot streets, to the intersection at McFarland Drive.
Santa is expected to head back to the North Pole for the week, then return to Wellington for the Light Up the Village day on Dec. 7, then Consecon’s parade on Sunday, Dec. 8 starting at 1 p.m.
