Second City comedy alumnus Sandy Jobin-Bevans is to be master of ceremonies for the second annual County Chopped portion of September’s TASTE community grown event.
Taste the County says the nine-time winner at the Canadian Comedy Awards is instantly recognizeable as the spokesperson for Ford’s Swap Your Ride campaign, as well as countless commercial appearances.
Jobin-Bevans was the host of HGTV’s Great Home Giveaway and has appeared in such films as You Kill Me with Ben Kingsley and Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle. He co-hosts the hidden camera game show, Deal With It, and plays the single father of four children on the YTV sitcom, Life With Boys.
County Chopped, the live version of the popular Food Network television show, will be a half an hour throwdown between last year’s winner, Matthew DeMille, executive chef of Pomodoro Trattoria, and two regional challengers. The three chefs will each have one mystery basket of ingredients, one barbecue and 30 minutes to prepare the best meal for a panel of celebrity judges.
Judges are to include Toronto hospital food reform pioneer and chef Joshna Maharaj, and local culinary expert Cynthia Peters, of From the Farm Cooking School.
Regional chefs who have what it takes to challenge Matthew DeMille are encouraged to check the event website for information on how to apply to participate.
TASTE community grown takes place Saturday, Sept. 28 at Picton’s historic Crystal Palace. Taste the County is Prince Edward County’s destination marketing organization.
