See Pinecrest/QE reunion itinerary; order school coffee and sports mugs

Many of Pinecrest school’s soccer champs from 1979 plan to attend the reunion Saturday, June 8!

School memories! Ahhh! Some of the best! And hopefully, you will be bursting with those memories and stories, perhaps embellished, to tell your school chums when you attend Reunion 2019 on Saturday, June 8.

A day to celebrate two major schools that were closed in 2017 and 2018 – Pinecrest and Queen Elizabeth!

The Board of Quinte Educational Museum & Archives is proud to host Reunion 2019 and we are busy preparing a wonderful program of events for the alumni of these schools and the communities involved.

As the event approaches, I am sure many former students, parents and teachers are thinking back to some of those happy days at Pinecrest Memorial and Queen Elizabeth Schools. I know I am.

Coming to the County in 1967 and teaching for Principal Carl Reid brings back fond memories of my first year at Mary Street School, moving into my Grade 2 classroom at Queen Elizabeth and five years later transferring to Pinecrest to be librarian under the leadership of Dan Rainey, and then as retirement was looming, coming full circle and returning to Queen Elizabeth. It was the best career in the world!

So, why is a reunion important to me?
I want to see the students I taught. I want to hear their stories and meet their partners and children. I want to know all about them! Did I make a difference in their lives? I want to know! I want to see my former colleagues and catch up!

Let’s celebrate and remember! Register and reserve your ticket by emailing sherrynewcombe24@gmail.com or buy your ticket at the door. Day events are $10 per person while the evening dance is $20. per person.

Reunion day is Saturday, June 8 at Prince Edward Community Centre/ Huff Estates Arena in Picton. Opening ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. with local dignitaries present. The event-filled day will consist of a classic car show, memorabilia displays from each school, a wine tour, WI luncheon, silent auction, a craft show, QEMA book sales, mini putt contests, short speeches you won’t want to miss the dance of all dances with Peter Rea, The Reasons, The Reasonettes and a host of amazing guest performers!

What a night it will be! Handshakes! Hugs! Kisses! Dancing! Laughing! Tears! Stories! Pure Joy!
See below for itinerary.
