The PECI Senior Girls basketball team made history for the second time in a week – this time winning the AA COSSA Championship and qualifying for OFSAA for the first time in school history. Last week they won the Bay of Quinte Championship for the first time.
Coach Rob Garden said the girls won a nail biter in the semi finals 34 – 33 in overtime versus Crestwood, from Peterborough.
“In the finals, the girls came out on fire and beat Bayside 48 – 28 to punch their ticket to the AA OFSAA Championships Nov. 23 – 26th in Windsor.”
The girls went a perfect 14 – 0 this season in league play and had an overall record of 23 – 9.
In order to get to Windsor, the team will be looking for some help to make its dreams come true. If any individuals, businesses or service groups are able to help, contact Rob Garden (rgarden@hpedsb.on.ca or 613-847-7726).
