Service Ontario will not text your for licence sticker refund

Prince Edward OPP are advising residents to ignore a recent fraudulent text message now appearing recently.
It states it is from Service Ontario with a link to collect your licence plate sticker refund.
“It’s a scam,” notes PEC OPP Community Safety Officer
Aaron Miller. “Service Ontario doesn’t send refunds through text.”
The Ontario government announced it is ending licence plate renewal and sticker fees by March 13 and will refund the cost of stickers purchased from March 2020 onward.
Drivers need to make sure the address on their licence is up-to-date by March 7 – either online or by phone with Service Ontario at 1-888-333-0049. Refunds are expected by the end of April, by cheque in the mail.
