A last minute entry of a catfish reeled in a trophy for William Duncan at this year’s Bloomfield Hallowell Recreation Committee’s annual Cops and Kids fishing derby. There were 116 participants at this year’s event at the Bloomfield Millpond.
Jordan DeRush won the longest fish trophy for his 22″ pike and Kira Parks earned the smallest fish trophy for reeling in a 4.5″ minnow.
Alex DeMille caught the most fish trophy, with three. Jacob McFaul earned the strangest catch trophy for snagging an antique pizza cutter. Other strange catches included a bucket, shovel, a toad and one angler caught her nose (but was not hurt).
Councillor Barry Turpin was thrilled with the support for this year’s event from various local businesses, Bob Izumi and Fishing Forever. The committee also hands out some rod and reel sets along with participant medals, some hats and t-shirts. OPP Detectives Matt Caissie and Jennifer Byford posed for photographs with the young anglers.
