Prince Edward County elementary students who have the gift of gab will compete for honours this Saturday at the annual Royal Canadian Legion Public Speaking contest. Students competing at the Picton Legion Branch, have earned entrance to the competition by winning junior and intermediate competitions at their schools.
The contest, part of the Legion’s Youth and Education program, is meant to give young people an opportunity to hone skills necessary for speaking in public. The contest progresses through zone, district and area levels, concluding at the provincial level in May of each year.
