Powered by a 4H milkshake, countylive.ca’s Amber Martin earned $1,000 for Hospice Prince Edward winning the County Pull media challenge piloting a 125 Case Tractor donated by Anderson Equipment. The challenge was part of today’s events in the second annual County Pull on all weekend at the Picton Airport. County Pull, hosted by Loch Sloy, donated $1,000 to the charity of the winner’s choice.
Saturday’s competitors pulled tractors of all classes through the mud in hopes of winning cash prizes. Sunday will feature lawn tractors, 4×4 truck pulls and mud drags. Admission $15. For more information, visit www.thecountypull.com
Scott Harrison of Anderson Equipment Sales, Steve Everall, president of the County Pull and Jacqui Burley, treasurer of the County Pull thanked media challenge participants Chris Williams of 95.5; Matt Rogers of 96.3, Amber Martin of countylive.ca and Caroline Rolf of Rock 107.
Last year, more than 4,000 spectators gathered for the first County Pull of tractors, trucks, Eastern Ontario Mud Drag Racing garden tractor pullers. This weekend, competitors from across North America will gather again at the Loch-Sloy Business Park (Picton Airport) to kick off another season.
In 2010 Picton area tractor pullers decided they wanted to host a dedicated truck and tractor pull event. With the help of the Loch-Sloy business park and airport a suitable location was found.
A custom two lane pulling track and a two lane mud drag track were meticulously constructed to the highest of standards over a three month period and in June 2011, in front of more than 4000 spectators the County Pull kicked off.
