Two people face 68 charges related to theft of vehicles, boats, RVs, break-ins and arson

Two people are facing 68 criminal charges related to 42 incidents of vehicle theft, commercial break and enters and arson across the region between July 15-25.

Prince Edward OPP Acting Sgt. Aaron Miller states members of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit investigated the incidents. Both were arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and returned to Ontario.

“The reported vehicle thefts include personal watercraft, RVs and other trailers. The occurrences spanned across East region. Attempts were made to stop the pair and they fled from police. The vehicle being operated at the time was located abandoned and on fire. Several of the vehicles had been spray painted.”

Miller said that throughout the investigation, bank cards located in the stolen vehicles, were used.

“The OPP is reminding everyone not to leave valuables in unlocked vehicles, especially the keys to the vehicle. All the reported stolen vehicles had been left unlocked with the keys in them.”

A 25-year-old of no fixed address and a 38-year-old from Nectaux Falls, Nova Scotia were charged.
