Woman drowned in Soup Harbour

UPDATE Aug. 22: At 4:53pm on the 16th of August, Prince Edward OPP were dispatched to Soup Harbour Road near Point Petre in response to 911 calls from people in the area stating a woman had drowned.
When officers arrived they discovered paramedics performing CPR on a woman who had been found non responsive in the water.  Their attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.
An autopsy has determined the victim, a 78yr old woman who resides in British Columbia, suffered a heart attack while she was swimming and died as a result.

An autopsy is being performed today in Kingston to determine the cause of death of a 78-year-old woman found non-responsive in the water at Soup Harbour late Thursday afternoon.

At 4:53pm yesterday afternoon, Prince Edward OPP were dispatched to Soup Harbour Road, near Point Petre, in response to 911 calls from people in the area stating a woman had drowned.

When officers arrived, paramedics were performing CPR on a woman who had been found non responsive in the water. Their attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.

The investigation revealed the victim, a 78-year-old woman who resides in British Columbia, was swimming alone in Soup Harbour and for reasons yet to be determined, had drowned.
