QHC board meets in Picton March 22

The Quinte Healthcare Board of Directors holds six meetings per year on a bi-monthly basis. Three meetings are held in Belleville, and one each in Trenton, Picton and Bancroft.
The next meeting for Picton is to be held in the board room at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 22 at about 5:30 pm.
According to QHC’s bylaws the date of these meetings should be advertised in the local media. My observation has been that this has not happened in the last few years. The meetings are noted on QHC’s web site.

At one time these meetings were held in the Masonic Hall in Picton. This venue provided adaquete seating for at least 50 stakeholders.
Over the last few years the meetings have been moved to the board room at PECMH. For those who have attended before, you quickly realize that the seating capacity is far from adaquete.

By the time board members, QHC management and the press are seated, there is little or no seating for those stakeholders who are interested – an interest I am sure is peaked by the drastic service cuts that have or are about to take place at all QHC hospitals.

Just to remind those residents who choose to attend, you are not allowed to speak or give a deputation unless previous arrangements have been made with the Quinte Healthcare Board.

The board room at PECMH is located near the cafeteria, which closed March 7th after 55 years of operation and is now reduced to a room with a few tables and two lone vending machines.
